RCG Irregular’s visit Swamp Fox County

Francis Marion (1732-1795) is accredited with developing modern day gorilla style warfare and is thought of as the father of the U.S. Army Rangers. Francis Marion led irregular people on irregular missions, frustrating the British at the time. ‘The Swamp Fox’, as he became known, never came to Florida. However, Marion County Florida honored this Revolutionary War hero at it’s founding on March 5, 1844.

On the sunny afternoon of May 14, 2022 six irregular people from the River City Grotto (RCG) traveled to Marion County Florida to explore White Cliff Cave. White Cliff Cave is owned and maintained by the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department. They sponsor public trips there and were gracious to let us explore it this day–Thank you.

White Cliff Cave is not particularly difficult and is fairly good for beginners. However, it does require a bit of athleticism, and can be very challenging if you desire to attempt the challenges–this group accepted the challenges.

River City Grotto had a great trip to White Cliff Cave with a fantastic lunch at Big Hammock Brewery afterwards.
